Common name:California Coffeeberry
Botanical name:Rhamnus californica

The California coffeeberry is an evergreen shrub that reaches 6'-8' high. It grows inland and has large green to black berries in late summer. This shrub tolerates sun or partial shade in all soil types. The California coffeeberry is a native to California and is drought tolerant. It is a beneficial insect plant and attracts butterflies.

This shrub has grayish green leaves with flowers may be in yellow, blue, or lavender forms and bloom in the spring.

Sandhill Sage, Coast Sagebrush

Common name:Sandhill Sage, Coast Sagebrush
Botanical name:Artemisia pycnocephala

This shrub will grow anywhere from 1'-3' tall and has small gray leaves accented by yellow flowers that bloom in spring.

Using Permeable Surfaces

If you have impermeable paving that you would like to make permeable, there are two main methods for doing so:
1. Break up hard paved surfaces to create spaces for water to seep through.
2. Remove and replace the surfaces with permeable paving.
